Private Alfred Hunt

Alfred was born in Merton, Surrey in 1891 son of Alfred and Emma Hunt. At the time of the 1901 census, the family are living in Denbies Lodge, Ranmore, Dorking. Alfred senior is working as a gardener/domestic worker.
Alfred enlisted at Guildford in the 1st Battalion of the Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment. His residence is given as Dorking.
Alfred died of his wounds on the 11th of May 1916 aged 26 years. He is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery, France. At the time of his death his parents’ residence is given as West Lodge, Midgham, Reading.
