Stanley Richard Withall was born in January 1892 in Oxted in Surrey to Mary Ann and James Withall.
In 1901 he was living at Sawdust Green, Dorking with his parents and siblings William, Hilda, Harry, Albert and Edith.
By 1911, his father James had died. The rest of the family were still living at Sawdust Farm. Stanley was working on a farm.
Stanley married Elizabeth Ellen Taylor on 10th January 1915 at St. Martin’s Church, Dorking.
Stanley enlisted at Guildford and joined the 2nd Battalion of The Queen’s West Surrey Regiment and was sent to France. He died of his wounds on 12th April 1917 in France aged 28. He was buried at Ervillers Military Cemetery, France (A3).
