Heritage Open Days 2020

All Heritage Open Day walks are now fully booked. Please take a virtual tour around the Dorking of William Mullins by watching our Mayflower 400 video.

  • Our events will run in line with local & national government guidelines at the time of the festival.
  • Should any walkers fall ill with Covid symptoms after attending a walk, they should immediately inform the walk leader to allow for Track and Trace. 
  • Please do not attend walks if you have any symptoms. 
  • Masks must be worn at all times – and we will be observing social distancing.
  • Only 6 people to a tour

The Deepdene Trail – including access to the Hope Mausoleum

Tours leave from Dorking Golf Club clubhouse and include access to the grade 2* listed Hope Mausoleum.

Walking Tour of Betchworth Castle – including access to the Castle enclosure

Join a Dorking Museum guide for a 90 minute walk around the castle including access to the Castle enclosure.

Walks leave from the entrance to Betchworth Park Golf Club, opposite Hilliers Garden Centre.

Walking Tour of Hidden Dorking

See Dorking as you have never seen it before on this walk. 

You walk past hidden treasures every day – we will point them all out to you.

The walk will leave from Dorking Museum and will last 90 minutes.

Mayflower 400 – Dorking in the time of William Mullins

The walk is themed around the buildings that survive from the early 17th century tucked away in Dorking and which Mullins and his fellow Mayflower pilgrims would have known.

We will explore the lives of the Mayflower pilgrims in Dorking, what the town and buildings were like during their lives, and what happened to them after they left for the New World.

The walk lasts 90 minutes and starts at Dorking Museum.
