Ivo Redmouth Longhurst was born in Abinger in 1890, the son of Isted John and Mary Ann Longhurst.
In 1891, he was living at Cobbetts Farm, Ockley with his parents and seven siblings. In 1901, he had moved to Holmbury St. Mary. In 1911, he was still in Holmbury St. Mary and was now employed as a Gardener at Hopedene. Ivo married Dorothy Matthews in 1918 in Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire.
He joined the 4th Battalion, Grenadier Guards with the number 19324.
Ivo was killed in Belgium on 13th April 1918 aged 28, and is commemorated on Pleogsteert Memorial Ploegstreet Arrondissement de Mouscron Hainaut, Belguim, Plot: Panel 1
His younger sister Lilian Longhurst lived in Holmbury St. Mary after the war.
