Frederick Lucas was born in Dorking in 1883, he was baptised on 7th November of the same year in St. Martin’s Church. Frederick was the son of James and Jane and had another brother and one sister.
In 1901, he was living in Dorking at 1 St. Martin’s Place with his family. He was working as a railway company cleaner.
In 1911, he was living at 24 West Street, Dorking and working as a barman. On the 11th June 1911, Frederick married Mabel Ede at St. Martin’s Church.
Frederick enlisted at Kingston-Upon-Thames, as a Lance Corporal into the 6th Battalion, East Kent Regiment (The Buffs) with an army number of G/11928.
Frederick was killed in action in France on 20th November 1917. He is remembered on Cambrai Memorial, Louvernal, Panel 3.
