John was born in 1892 in Edenbridge, Kent. Son of John Henry and Elisabeth Edwards who, at time of John jrs death, were living at The Cottage, Bury’s Court, near Reigate.
John enlisted in the 9th Lancers in Canterbury. He was killed in action on 29th September 1914 aged 22 years, and buried in the Longueval Communal Cemetery, France.
The entry for John in the records of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission shows him living at Holmwood.
