Frederick was born in Ticehurst, Sussex in 1882, the son of Frederick and Charlotte (nee Waeatman). Frederick senior worked as an agricultural labourer.
In the 1891 census, Frederick was 9 years old and living at Perrymans, Burwash, Ticehurst. His father was still working as an agricultural labourer. Frederick had an older brother; Herbert, aged 13. Charlotte’s mother, Hannah Ellis, also lived in the house.
In the 1901 census, 19 year old Frederick was living as a boarder in Beaconsfield Road, Bexhill, Sussex and was working as a groom.
In 1907, Frederick married Caroline Garton in Horsham, Sussex.
In 1911 census, Frederick was living with his wife Caroline (24) and their daughter, Carrie (2) in Hayes Lane, Slinford, Sussex. Frederick was working as a domestic gardener.
Frederick enlisted in Dorking into the 6th Battalion of the Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment. At the time of enlisting Frederick gave his residence as Dorking.
Frederick was killed in action on the 12th of April, 1917. He is buried in Ste Catharine British Cemetery, France.
His death was reported in the Dorking Advertiser on 5th May 1917.

Queen’s R.W.S. Regt.
Mrs. Stonestreet of Ruggs Farm, Wigmore, received official intimation on Saturday last that her husband had been killed in action on April 12th. Pte. Frederick Stonestreet, aged 35, joined the Royal West Surrey Regiment on June 1st, 1916, and was sent to France on Jan. 1st, 1917. He had been employed in the gardens at Wigmore until he joined the Army. He leaves a wife and three small children, for whom much sympathy is felt.
