William Andrews was born in Wotton in 1895, the son of William Frank and Isabella.
In 1915, the family were living at Wotton Lodge.
The Rough Register of Recruits for the Royal West Surrey Regiment notes that William enlisted on 4th September 1914, into the 8th Battalion, The Queens Own Royal Surrey Regiment (G1283). He was 19 years old. His medal card shows that he entered the War on 14th August 1915.
He died of his wounds on 15th October 1918 aged 23. He is buried in Delsaur Farm Cemetery, near the village of Deugny, Pas de Calais
