Youngest daughter of George and Elizabeth King of Abinger Hammer, Grace was on born April 3rd 1893, and died in Paris on July 28th 1917. Her father was a builder and two of her brothers were apprenticed as carpenters. In 1911 Grace was attending a boarding school, Townley House in Ramsgate.
She was buried at St James’ Church Abinger the inscription on the grave reads “A soldiers grave the best for thee” She died of an unspecified illness but as she was working very close to the trenches in conditions that were probably not very sanitary, so possibly typhus or typhoid.
