Kate Albert joined the Dorking Camera Club in November 2008 as a total beginner having been given her first DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera by her sons for a ‘big’ birthday. With mentoring from several members she achieved her Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) in January 2010 and her Associateship (ARPS) in March 2011. Although the panel for her ARPS was of Architecture, her real love is Nature. Kate is a full time carer for one of her sons and therefore doesn’t have a lot of time to get out and about photographing. She soon realised that her garden has many fascinating insects (not to forget the flowers they land on) which she loves to photograph really close up. She spends as many hours as possible trying to improve her ‘macro’ skills. When Kate can get a couple of hours of freedom, she goes to local ponds to find the dragonflies which she loves to photograph.
