Oscar was born in 1882 at Midhurst, the first child of William and Mary Marshall. William was a plumber and the 1901 census shows Oscar working as a plumber’s mate.
Oscar enlisted into the 21st Battalion of the Rifle Brigade at Dorking.
Oscar died on 15th of April, 1917 at sea, when the troop ship Arcadian sank.
He has no known grave. His name is inscribed on the Mikra Memorial in Greece.
