Design a town trail for a friend or relative who has never visited Dorking before. What would they like to see? Are there shops they might like to browse? Where will you take them for refreshments or a picnic?

You probably already have a few places in mind, but you can find more ideas by exploring the Step into Mole Valley webpages. There are two walking trails covering Dorking town centre:
To use the site, click on the trail you want to see, then zoom in on the map to see more detail.
Click on each ‘walking person’ icon and a pop-up information board will appear for each stopping point of interest.
Note down the ones you think your visitor might like to see.
Using the online map, copy the main streets and your chosen places of interest into a sketchbook.
Take this with you, so you can make notes as you walk around the town to test out your route.
Alternatively, you can pick up a printed map of the Dorking Heritage Trail from Dorking Museum.
Dorking by wheelchair or buggy
If your visitor is in a wheelchair or has a baby buggy, find the easiest and safest route to get around. Dorking has lots of steps, but ramps have been built to connect parts of the town centre and special lowered curbs allow wheelchairs smooth passage across roads in certain places. Meadowbank Park has a playground specially designed for disabled children.

Use your sketches and notes to paint or crayon your own unique town trail when you get home.
