Trustee Roles

The Museum is represented on the Trustee Board of the Dorking Society (the parent charity) by the Chair of the Museum. The museum is a large and important part of the Society and we are keen to have greater representation on the Board.

Dorking Museum is a small independent museum located in the heart of Surrey. It is a
Charitable Organisation, managed by a Board of Trustees and run entirely by volunteers. The
museum relies on donations, income from talks and events, and grants from private
organizations for funding.
We gained Accreditation last year and are currently looking for a couple of Trustees to join
our current board. We are looking for people who can bring their knowledge and enthusiasm
to help us continue to grow and develop in the future.
We are looking for people with one or more of the following skills:
– Previous experience of working in the museum/ heritage sector
-Experience of leading/ managing a team
– Strategic vision and good judgement
– Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Specifically, we need a Trustee to oversee our Collections care and documentation systems,
and a trustee to oversee our volunteer recruitment and training needs and procedures.
Meetings early evening once a quarter.
